Stop security chiefs, top officials’ salaries until killing stops – clergy urges FG

Clergy blows hot as he speaks to the Expozer Media Monday 10th August, 2020 in Abuja over the insecurity situation in Nigeria and the killing of innocent citizens.

The clergy, Apst Da-Silva Johnson of Word for World Ministries Abuja has advised the Federal Government to stop the salaries and allowances of top government functionaries until the killing of innocent in the country is stopped.

Apostle Johnson believed that there was no need to pay those who could not do the jobs they were assigned to do.

“These killings should end please. Or stop salaries of those who should stop the killing. We are tired!

“Since those at the helms of the security affairs cannot resign from office themselves, then their salaries and other allowances should be stopped henceforth until killing stops in Nigeria.

“The President, Senators, House of Representative members, Security Service Chiefs, affected states governors, House of Assemblies members and other stakeholders such as advisers on security should be denied salaries until killing ends,” the clergy said.

The clergy who said he had enough from the government even before 2015 said that their efforts were yet to yield the expected result

“I have heard enough excuses from the government even before 2015. I know they said they are trying and recently, the President said he has tried his best.

“I understand the country we are all in. I know Nigeria is large and complicated especially in governance. I know the diversities of our country and the complication in our constitutions.

“However, all these only mean one thing which is competence. Nigeria needs leadership that can handle her complications.

“I do not mean that the present leadership lacks competence however, it could be or something else. My own problem is that killing should stop.

I am tired of seeing blood everyday on the streets. I am scared of the generation of children we are raising now where blood matters not to them,” he said.

According to him, in the past, when we are told that a known person died in the 6th house to ours, we will leave our own house to the relative house at the end of the town just to go and sleep until the dead is buried. But today, children see corpses everywhere and no more fear in their hearts. We even have underage in the terrorist groups and other dangerous sects now. Where are we heading?

He said that whatever the cause of the killing was not justifiable. Be it religion, tribalism, ethnicity, politics et cetera adding that nothing was worth the blood of Nigerians.

“We cannot continue like this and be proud of this country tomorrow. Whoever is making money from insecurity, money will end. Whoever is doing it for vengeance, remember that vengeance is of God. Whoever is doing it for political gain, you can’t rule the dead. Let’s stop killing in Nigeria.

He said that Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe from the East, Chief Obafemi Awolowo from the West, Sir Ahmadu Bello from the North among others contributed their quotas to the development of Nigeria yet, no terrorist sect in their stories.

“Therefore, incompetence or any other factors responsible for this killing should be handled. Since those at the helms of the security affairs cannot resign from office themselves, then their salaries and other allowances should be stopped henceforth until killing stops in Nigeria.

“The President, Senators, House of Representative members, Security Service Chiefs, affected states governors, House of Assemblies members and other stakeholders such as advisers on security should be denied salaries until killing ends.

“Nigerian Bar Associations, human rights activists, relevant NGOs in Nigeria and in the Diaspora can help front this and ensure the implementation through Salaries and Wages Commission, Accountant General Office et cetera.

According to him, there is no need paying people who cannot do the job. Nigerians believed in this government from onset. Nigerians believed also that even if we cannot see power to do our businesses, or we have no water to drink and no good road to travel for our economic activities, the least the government can do is to leave us alive.

Let our husband’s live. Let our wives live. Let our sons grow. Let our youth live and let our daughters be preserved and not raped and killed.

These killings should end please. Or stop salaries of those who should stop the killing. We are tired!

Those who are speaking are either being arrested, intimidated or even terminated just to silent all. How long can we hide the truth? Nigeria is too big to cover. Let’s our people live please”.

The clergy who passionately expressed himself could not be stopped until he cleared his mind. The Expozer Media is obligated to report this outcry.
